Cheap flights to California

If you’re a fan of Western entertainment in any way, then the state of California is no stranger to you. Located on the West Coast of the United States of America, California (also known as the Golden State) is the set piece behind countless Hollywood movies and shows, with its sunny beaches, warm weather, blue waters and beautiful people prominently featured. It is the most populated US state, with Californian cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento etc. amongst the most populated cities in the USA.

To get around California, one of the best ways is to simply rent a car and drive. The state’s extensive network of highways make driving easy even for tourists, and there’s so much to see that you’d want the flexibility of being able to stop whenever you want to for photos. Countless California road trip itineraries are also available in tourist centres and hotels. Otherwise, inter-city and interstate rail services are also available; the AMTRAK rail network, for example, operates long-distance routes in and around California, and is efficient and reliable.

If you’re in California, don’t miss San Francisco, one of the region’s prettiest and most liveable cities with lush greenery, coastal scenery and interesting topography. Once in the city, don’t forget to visit the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge – heralded as one of the top construction achievements of the 20th century – or visit the famous Fisherman’s Wharf for some fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants nearby. Then go for a ride in the San Francisco Cable Car – one of the city’s most iconic tourist attractions – which takes you on a scenic aerial journey above the city for an unfettered look at its beauty.

For those travelling with little ones in tow, San Diego should be your city of choice. With its world-famous family-friendly attractions like San Diego Zoo and San Diego SeaWorld, you and your kids will be in for a real treat. The San Diego Zoo is one of the few parks in the world that houses the giant panda, whilst San Diego SeaWorld offers killer whale exhibits and amazing Shamu shows, another great rarity in the aquarium world. The Zoo was also the pioneer behind cageless, open-air exhibits that more closely resemble the animals’ natural habitat, something that benefits both animal and spectator. There’re few places in the world better for appreciating the majesty and beauty of the giants of the animal kingdom close-up, and – with both parks’ strong emphasis on conservation –also represents an excellent opportunity to educate the young ones on the importance of being ecologically friendly.

But if you’re a big Hollywood fan, get yourself to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles. Do the Hollywood Walk of Fame on the Sunset Strip, go to the Madame Tussauds Hollywood museum for a look at wax sculptures of world-famous actors, or go to Griffith Park to take a selfie with the iconic Hollywood sign.
