Flights to South Korea

Visit drama sets, savour authentic cuisine and ski down beautiful, snow-covered slopes in South Korea. There is so much that this Asian gem offers, so head down there to experience it all.

Start off with some retail therapy in Seoul’s Dongdaemun, the marketplace that almost never closes. Housing about 20 shopping malls and more than 300,000 stores, Dongdaemun provides you with everything you need. Savour the large array of facilities available and be awed by its scale. Special mentions should go out to the Samsung D’light showroom, which shows you everything the global brand offers as well as Lotte World, the world’s largest indoor theme park. Leaving Dongdaemun, you could head to the Kimchi Field Museum, where you can have a hands-on experience in making and learning more about this local delicacy. Romantics can also visit the Namsan Tower to declare your love on South Korea’s version of the Love Bridge.

The Gyeongbokgung, whose name means “palace greatly blessed by heaven”, is one of the grandest palaces in South Korea. Join a walking tour of the palace grounds and be taken back in time by this well-preserved structure. For something more applicable to present circumstances, visit the infamous Demilitarised Zone at the country’s borders. Going on a guided tour is the best and safest way of exploring this area. Tours usually involve a trip to the town of Panmujum, where you would be brought to the Joint Security Building to stand along the border shared by South and North Korea.

From Seoul, you visit the renowned Jeju Island. If you’re a fan of Korean drama serials, you’ll have a ball at Seopjikoji, well-known for playing host to several television dramas thanks to its romantic ambience. Be sure to catch a stunning sunrise or sunset over the Sungsan Sunrise Peak. The peak is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserved precisely for the view. For those looking to stay active while on holiday, they can hike up Mount Halla or trek the Olle fields for great sights and sounds. Remember to bring your camera along to capture beautiful shots of Jeju!

Home to one of the busiest seaports in the world, Busan is just an hour’s bus ride away from Seoul and the perfect place to get away from the bustle of city life. In the summer, Busan’s beaches are littered with locals, who head there to bask in the sun and enjoy fresh seafood.

Be sure to check out the Haedong Yonggunsa as well, one of the few seaside temples in Korea. Also, do stay after sunset to catch the view of the Gwangan Bridge and how it lights up at night.

Any season is a season to visit South Korea. Fun filled all year round, this beautiful country is definitely a place not to be missed.
