Air France, formally known as Société Air France, S.A., is the national airline and official flag carrier of France. The airline is headquartered in Tremblay-en-France which is north of Paris. Air France’s primary hubs are at the Charles de Gaulle Airport and in Paris with secondary hubs at the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, Lyon Airport, Marseille Airport, Nice Airport and the Toulouse-Blagnac Airport.

Air France was founded in 1933 and has since grown to an airline with a fleet size of 233 aircraft flying to over 200 destinations worldwide. Air France is one of the four founding members of the global airline alliance, SkyTeam, along with Aeroméxico, Korean Air and Delta Air Lines. It also has codeshare agreements with several airlines including Bangkok Airways, Etihad Airways, Garuda Indonesia and Japan Airlines. Air France also has its frequent-flyer programme called Flying Blue and is the parent company of subsidiaries HOP! And Transavia France.

Air France currently operates flights from several airports in Malaysia including Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Penang International Airport, Langkawi International Airport, Krabi International Airport, Phuket International Airport, Samui International Airport and Kuching International Airport. Why Fly with Air France

Check-in

Air France recommends that all passengers keep in mind three deadlines for when travelling with the airline – check-in deadline, boarding deadline and departure time. For check-in deadlines, this varies based on your departure location. If flying with Air France departing from outside Europe, all passengers must check-in at least 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. For some selected locations, this may be increased to 90 minutes. It is best to check on Air France's official website or through your travel agent.

For passenger’s convenience and comfort, Air France offers several ways to check-in. Passengers can choose to check-in online and print boarding passes and baggage tags from the comfort of their home. Online check-in opens from 24 to 30 hours before flights and will close 60 to 90 minutes before departure time. Checking in at the airport through the check-in counters or self-service kiosks are also still available.

Air France also provides their Automatic Check-in service which allows passengers to automatically receive their boarding pass 30 hours before the departure time. Passengers who book their flights on the airline’s official website can avail of this service for most flights.

Baggage Allowance & Seating

Air France offers complimentary baggage allowance for flights. The number and size of baggage will vary depending on cabin class and flight route.

For cabin baggage or hand carried luggage, passengers are allowed to carry one or two hand carried bags as well as one additional small item. Each hand baggage should not exceed the maximum dimension of 55cm x 35cm x 25cm, including pockets, wheels and handles. It should also not exceed the maximum weight limit of 12 kilogrammes or 26 pounds. Depending on the travel class, this can increase to 18 kilogrammes or 39 pounds.

For checked baggage, the number and size will also vary depending on travel class, fare class and frequent-flyer membership status. Each bag should not exceed the total dimension size of 158 centimetres or 62 inches including outside pockets, handles and wheels. Economy and Premium Economy Class passengers can check-in up to 23 kilogrammes or 50 pounds while Business and La Première class passengers have up to 32 kilogrammes or 70 pounds.

Should you need additional baggage allowance, Air France allows you to purchase additional baggage through their official website or at the airport. However, pre-purchasing your baggage options online will get you at least 20% discount off the airport rates.

Seating

Air France offers four types of cabin classes – Economy, Premium Economy, Business and La Première or First Class. Each cabin class provides the utmost in comfort for any journey. Premium Economy, Business and La Première passengers, can experience higher quality service and amenities before and during the flight.

Air France also offers several seat options, particularly in the Economy Class cabins. For passengers who wish to travel with extra legroom, first access to deplaning or additional seat space, choose any of these seat options. The ‘Seat Plus’ offers passengers with additional legroom while the ‘Seat at the Front of the Cabin’ will allow passengers the opportunity to deplane first once arriving at the destinations. There is also the option of purchasing a seat option of ‘Duo Seat in a Row of 2’ or ‘Duo Seat on the A380 Upper Deck’. These seat options give passengers the guarantee of travelling in a row of two with just one neighbour.

In-flight Services

Air France offers complimentary onboard dining on all flights. La Première passengers can experience a Michelin-starred dining experience in the air with a menu specially crafted by a team of chefs. Business and Premium Economy passengers will also enjoy a three-course culinary experience created by leading chefs of French cuisine while Economy passengers will also be served quality French meals with fresh bread, cheese and accompanying beverages.

In-flight entertainment is also available on Air France flights. Passengers can comfortably choose from a wide selection of the latest movies, popular TV programs and trending as well as classical music. Kids will be entertainment with a variety of games that can be played using the airline’s onboard entertainment system.
