Air Nelson Flights

Air Nelson is a regional airline based in Nelson, New Zealand. It is a subsidiary of the country's national airline and flag carrier, Air New Zealand Limited. The airline handles scheduled passenger services on provincial routes. Air Nelson operates under the Air New Zealand Link brand. It is one of three regional airlines that operate feeder flights for the company, the other two being Eagle Airways and Mount Cook Airlines. Air Nelson utilises one type of aircraft: the 50-seat Bombardier Q300.

How to Check In

Checking in with Air Nelson is made easier by the online check-in option, which allows the passenger to check-in through a web-enabled computer or phone. The passenger will need the booking reference, passport details, and frequent flyer programme membership numbers (if applicable) in order to select the preferred seats, manage checked baggage, and receive the boarding pass before even arriving at the airport. There are four ways to go about the online check-in process: check-in from a computer through the official Air New Zealand website, check-in from the Air New Zealand mobile site, check-in from the Air NZ mobile app, or retrieve booking online through the manage booking and it will check if you are on a mobile device. Online check-in opens 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of each flight and closes 30 minutes before domestic flights within New Zealand and 90 minutes before international flights.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

For domestic New Zealand flights, bags much be checked in at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. For international flights, bags much be checked in at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure (or at least 75 minutes before departure, for flights departing from Sydney, London-Heathrow, and all US and Canadian airports). The airline takes pride in its excellent service of flying live animals to all destinations within New Zealand (on most flights). Domestic cats and dogs who are accompanied by passengers can travel as checked baggage on domestic routes. As for unaccompanied domestic pets (including other types of animals such as endangered species with legal documents) can be flown as cargo. The comfort and safety of the animals is ensured at each stage of the journey. It is highly recommended for pet owners or handlers to pre-book by contacting the Pet Centre in order to ensure that the aircraft can accommodate the animals on the preferred flights. There are cage requirements; if the owner does not have a cage that meets the requirements, Air New Zealand National Cargo offers suitable cat and dog containers for sale. The containers must also be pre-booked at the Pet Centre.
