Flybe Flights

Flybe is Europe's largest independent regional airline. It operates domestic flights to the United Kingdom more than any other airline. Flybe is based in Exeter in the UK and has nine operating bases including Aberdeen, Cardiff, Düsseldorf, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The airline’s hubs are at the Birmingham Airport and Manchester Airport with the following focus cities – Inverness, Jersey, London and Hannover.

Flybe was founded in 1979 as the Jersey European Airways. In 2000, the airline was rebranded as British European, and then in 2002, the airline was renamed to Flybe and repositioned itself as a full-service low-fare airline. Flybe has since expanded into an airline that has a fleet size of more than 80 aircraft operating flights to over 100 destinations across nine countries. The airline connects long-haul hubs in Amsterdam, Birmingham, Dublin, Manchester and Paris.

Flybe currently offers short-haul flights to destinations across the United Kingdom, Ireland and continental Europe. It does not operate flights to Asia or specifically in Malaysia. However, it does have codeshare agreements with airlines that offer flights to Asia including Air France, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Singapore Airlines.

Ways to Check-in

Flybe's check-in services include automatic, online and self-service check-in. For automatic check-in, passengers can select this option during the booking process wherein the boarding card will be automatically emailed or text messaged (SMS) to the registered contact information. The boarding pass will be sent between 36 to 15 hours before the scheduled departure time. For online check-in, this service is available 36 hours before departure time. Passengers can simply visit the airline's official website and follow the check-in process there. Lastly, for self-service check-in, these are available at selected airport where passengers can print their boarding pass and baggage labels.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Flybe’s baggage allowance varies depending on the booked travel class and flight route. The airline offers two fare packages that include baggage allowance – the ‘Get More’ and ‘All In’ fare classes.

The ‘Get More’ fare class includes a baggage allowance of one piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 23 kilogrammes. Meanwhile, the ‘All In' fare class will include a baggage allowance of two pieces of luggage with a maximum combined weight of 46 kilogrammes. If this baggage allowance is not enough, Flybe allows passengers to purchase extra baggage during the booking process or any time before check-in.

For cabin or hand carried baggage, each passenger is allowed to hand carry one standard cabin bag plus one small personal item such as a handbag or laptop bag. The cabin bag should not exceed the size dimension of 55cm x 35cm x 20cm, including outside pockets, wheels and handles. The combined weight of both items should not exceed 10 kilogrammes.

Seating

Flybe is a low-fare airline and as such, seats are automatically assigned at airport check-in. In the ‘Get More’ and ‘All In’ fare class, the package includes free advanced standard seat selection. However, passengers in the ‘All In’ fare class have the additional option to select a seat with extra legroom for free. Selecting the extra legroom seat will incur additional fees for those in the ‘Get More’ and ‘Just Fly’ fare class. Passengers in the ‘Just Fly’ class will also need to pay the extra fee if they want to select standard seats in advance.

Inflight Services

Flybe does not offer complimentary onboard dining, but a variety of snacks and beverages will be available for purchase during the flight. However, the airline would not be able to entertain special meal requests. Full meals are also not available because Flybe flights are generally short-haul flights.

Flybe currently does not offer in-flight entertainment. However, their in-flight magazine named ‘Flight Time' is available to help keep passengers entertained throughout the short flight.
