Tibet Airlines Flights

Tibet Airlines is an airline wholly owned by Air China and is based in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. The airline is headquartered in Lhasa, Tibet and has its primary hub at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Tibet Airlines was founded in 2010 and began operations in 2011 with an inaugural flight from Lhasa Gonggar Airport to Ngari Gunsa Airport. Since then it has expanded to an airline with a fleet size of 20 aircraft operating flights to 24 destinations. It began as a domestic airline but in 2016 had its first international flight from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Samui Airport in Thailand. Tibet Airlines now flies to destinations across Asia and Europe. The airline’s current international destinations are Kathmandu in Nepal, Jakarta in Indonesia and Sochi in Russia.

Ways to Check-in

Tibet Airlines provides passengers with a few options on how to check-in for flights – through web check-in or the usual check-in counters at the airport.

When checking in for flights, the airline requires passengers to present valid identification documents such as national identity cards and passport. The airline also recommends that when checking in at the airport to arrive at least 2 to 3 hours before the scheduled flight departure time to allow for check-in, security and immigration checks.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Tibet Airlines offers complimentary baggage allowance for all their flights regardless of the fare level. Economy Class passengers are allowed to check-in up to 20 kilogrammes; Business Class passengers can check-in up to 30 kilogrammes while First Class passengers can check-in up to 40 kilogrammes.


Tibet Airlines currently offers three types of cabin classes – Economy, Business and First Class. However, take note that availability of these travel classes will depend on the booked flight route and assigned aircraft for the journey. The website or ticket agent will be able to advise you on which cabins are available for your desired flight.

In-flight Services

Tibet Airlines offers complimentary onboard dining on most flights. Snacks and beverages will be available while light meals will depend on the length of the journey. The airline also provides in-flight entertainment onboard its flights. A good selection of movies and TV programmes will be available on-demand. Newspapers and magazines will also be offered for the passenger’s reading pleasure.
