Serving the city of Alor Setar in Kedah, Malaysia, the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport consists of just one terminal handling domestic flights to Kuala Lumpur.
Travellers with some time to spare before their flights may do some shopping at the airport. There are shops selling gifts and souvenirs, perfect purchases for friends and family back home. Newsagents sell books, magazines and newspapers to keep travellers occupied while waiting. Additionally, there are food outlets offering snacks and drinks for passengers looking to have a quick bite before they board their plane.
Smoking is not allowed within the airport and smokers are advised to use the designated smoking areas outside the terminal building or risk being fined. Disabled or handicapped passengers are required to notify their respective airlines before arrival, so that special arrangements can be made to assist them. Staff members will also be on duty to provide any help necessary. The airlines may provide handicapped travellers with the use of a wheelchair within airport grounds. There are also handicapped toilets with wide cubicles and railings to assist movement.
