 Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China

The Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the primary airport of Guangzhou, the capital city of the province of Guangdong in China. Its name, “Baiyun” means white clouds in Chinese, and is a reference to Mount Baiyun, a mountain in Guangzhou. The airport’s single terminal handles domestic and international flights, making it one of China's busiest.

Travellers who are in transit or have some time to spare at the airport may indulge in a bit of shopping. There are numerous retail shops at the airport to cater to the interests of every passenger. One can find goods such as clothing and accessories, cosmetics from famous brands like Kiehl's and MAC, perfume, jewellery, gifts and souvenirs, luxury items from international brands like Bally and Ferragamo, games, books and magazines. Travellers can also purchase local snacks and delicacies to bring back home.

Food is widely available in the airport, with the presence of popular international chains such as Starbucks and McDonald's, brought in specially to cater to foreign taste buds. These fast-food joints allow travellers to pick up a quick bite if they are in a hurry to catch their flights. There are also restaurants, which serve local Chinese food or other forms of Asian cuisine for those looking to sit down for a meal.

There are also other leisurely activities to keep you occupied at the airport, such as getting a relaxing foot massage at one of the massage centres. Designed specially to help travellers ease their pains and aches accumulated from hours of flying, it is a good place to kick back and relax. There is also a cinema for visitors who have hours to kill and wish to catch the latest blockbuster. The Kafen Beauty Club is open for passengers to get their hair, facials, manicures and pedicures done.

Those who wish to while away their time surfing the net may connect to the free Wi-Fi provided throughout the airport. Travellers with mobile phones, laptops or other devices must ensure their device is Wi-Fi-enabled. There is also a Business Centre which provides services such as photocopying, faxing, and printing for travellers who need to work on the go.

Travellers who need assistance with their luggage may engage the use of a battery car or baggage trollies available for use throughout the airport. Do remember to return them when you’re done.
