Hong Kong International Airport (Chek Lap Kok Airport)

The Hong Kong International Airport is situated on Chek Lap Kok island and is also known as Chek Lap Kok Airport. It is a significant hub and portal for journeys to and from Mainland China as well as through Asia.  The airport consists of two passenger terminals and is one of the busiest airports in Asia. It is home to Hong Kong's flag carrier Cathay Pacific airlines.

Like most of the airports around the world, Hong Kong International Airport provides travellers with various shopping options, and items for sale include electronics and gadgets, books and magazines, fashion and sports apparel, children-related goods, designer and branded items, duty-free tobacco and alcohol, cosmetics and jewellery. Finding food is never a problem with the great variety of cuisine available, from famous fast-food joints to Asian and Western restaurants scattered throughout the airport. Some of the food outlets are open 24 hours a day to serve travellers at all times.

For entertainment while waiting for flights or in transit, there is the Aviation Discovery Centre located at Terminal 2, which was built to educate travellers on aviation via interactive activities, displays and models. Also at Terminal 2, there is the Dream Come True Education Park catering to children, for them to get a hands-on feel about entering work force by allowing them to try out different job roles. Besides getting them started on thinking about their future careers, children will also be encouraged to work together and build social skills.

The Sky City Nine Eagles Golf Course, within a short distance of Terminal 2 is a nine-hole golf course. Alternatively, if travellers wish to catch a film, there is also the UA IMAX Theatre, which provides a state-of-the-art entertainment via IMAX 2D or 3D films.

Hong Kong International also houses numerous exhibitions. The Bruce Lee: Kung Fu-Art-Life exhibition educates travellers on world-renowned actor and kung fu master Bruce Lee's history, and never seen before relics are on show for the public to view. The “Childhood Memories” exhibition boasts a display of vintage toys chosen from several local museums and travellers may revisit their childhood with these popular toys. The “Theatre Art of Cantonese Opera” introduces foreign travellers to the main language used in Hong Kong via videos, traditional costumes and props from the Cantonese Opera, a popular form of entertainment in Hong Kong.

The most commonly used mode of transportation to and from the airport to downtown Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Airport Express, with the journey taking less than half an hour. Complimentary airport express shuttle buses, porter assistance and check-ins are provided. The waiting time in between each train is roughly 15 minutes.
