Being the gateway to the beautiful tropical paradise of Phuket means that Phuket International Airport, despite being rather small, is one of the busiest airports in Thailand (after Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airports). The airport handles more than 2 million passengers a year, who come from all around the world for a holiday amidst the island’s renowned coastal beauty. Its global popularity means that Phuket International Airport is slated for major expansion works, though details on that are still murky (as of May 2015).
Phuket International Airport consists of 2 terminals – Terminal 1 is used for international arrivals and departures, whilst Terminal 2 handles domestic flights. The double-leveled Terminal 1 is further divided into 2 sections – the Arrivals hall can be found on Level 1, whilst Level 2 is for departures.
