Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, Maldives

Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, commonly known as Male International Airport, formerly Hulhule Airport, is the main international airport in the Maldives. It is located in the neighbouring island of Hulhule in the North Male Atoll, nearby Male. It is the main gateway into the Maldives Islands, having multiple connections with major airports around the world. It is currently the only airport in the country that offers international flights. It is a hub for Mega Maldives, Maldivian, and Trans Maldivian Airways. The airport is managed administratively and financially by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), an independent corporate entity entirely owned by the Government of Maldives, which is governed by a board directors appointed by the President himself.


Ibrahim Nasir International Airport is divided into three sections: the first floor terminal where immigration and other standard airport facilities and amenities are located; the ground floor terminal which handles departure check-in; and the international pier, which has three departure gates (4, 5, and 6). The airport has one passenger terminal which handles both domestic and international flights (with a total of 24 check-in desks) and another terminal for cargo operations. Services and Facilities

Passengers going through Ibrahim Nasir International Airport are sure to experience comfortable, hassle-free airport services. First and foremost, the airport island is exclusively used by Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, which is accessible from the capital city via a 10-minute boat ride. There are modern speed boats and Safari vessels that offer services to and from the airport as well as atolls and dedicated resort vessels that provide daily services to receive their guests. For lost baggage and other items, you can proceed at the dedicated lost and found department at the arrival terminal, open 24 hours. For your banking needs, there’s a Branch of Bank of Maldives located near the Domestics Terminal and there are two exchange counters, one at the arrival terminal and the other at the first floor departure terminal. There’s also an ATM near the arrival exit gates at the arrival plaza area. Free Internet kiosks are available at the Duty Free area and at Departure Gates 1, 2, and 3A Maldives post office unit is located near the Departure Hall’s entrance for your postal needs. Meanwhile, you can make local and IDD calls at the Terminal Building, courtesy of Wataniya and Dhiraage. Email and Internet facilities are at the Dhiraage outlet, which is located at the arrival plaza area. For baggage storage services, you can go to the 24-hour baggage storage area at the arrival plaza. Meanwhile, you have your baggage securely and carefully wrapped at the landside departure area and inside the departure hall. Free baggage trolley services are available in both the departure and arrival lounges of the international and domestic passenger terminal. There’s a 24-hour health care centre, located at the terminal building, ready to provide basic first aid and minor health emergency services. For special assistance for the disabled, you may approach any Customer Service counter. A prayer room on the first floor of the Departure Terminal is available, as well as two fully air-conditioned Mosques at the Terminal Building. A smoking lounge is at the ground floor departure pier, around the duty free area. A shower room, located next to the coffee shop, can be used for free. A mother care room, located at the first floor departure hall, can be used by pregnant women, as well as mothers and their new-born.

Driving hide 

There is no direct road service to Male International Airport. To get there, you’ll have to take Majeedhee Magu and Orchid Magu to Kolige Umaru Maniku Goalhi. Then, take Mohamed Ismail Didi Goalhi to Male - Hulhule Ferry. When you dock at Male, continue straight and turn right onto Airport Main Rd. The airport will be on the left.
