King Khalid International Airport is situated north of the Riyadh city centre, in Saudi Arabia. Consisting of four terminals, the airport handles both domestic and international flights. However, as of 2014, only three terminals are in use - Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3.
The most significant feature of the airport is the King Khalid International Airport Mosque, which is big enough to accommodate 5,000 worshippers inside, and another 5,000 outside. It is situated in the middle of the passenger terminal, so travellers couldn’t possibly miss it. Loudspeakers and sound systems broadcast prayers five times a day. There is also a Koranic library located within the mosque. Muslim travellers may visit the mosque to offer their prayers or spend some time meditating.
Business travellers may use the business facilities available at the airport, including meeting and conference rooms. Free wireless internet within the airport also allows travellers to stay connected via their mobile phones, laptops or other electronic devices. Visitors without their own devices may use the internet kiosks, where there are computers with internet access, so they may kill time before their flights by surfing the net, checking their emails or chatting online.
Disabled passengers should notify their respective airlines prior to their arrival. Airport and airline staff members will be on hand to provide any assistance if necessary. There are handicapped toilets with wide cubicles to accommodate wheelchairs, as well as lifts, escalators, railings and ramps to assist wheelchair-bound users' movement around the airport. Reserved parking lots for the disabled are also available.
Travellers who need to exchange foreign currency may do so at one of the 24-hour banks, and cash withdrawal is available at any of the ATMs situated in the terminals. A first aid centre has been set up to handle medical emergencies, and travellers who feel ill or are suffering from any injuries may visit the centre for assistance.
