Yola Airport is a public airport serving Yola, a city in the Adamawa state of Nigeria. The airport serves as an important air hub as Yola serves as the capital and administrative centre of the above-mentioned state, and is in turn a major transport hub in the region. The airport is also one of the first to be established in the country. Airlines that serve the airport include Arik Air, Azman Air, IRS Airlines, Med-View Airlines, and Chanchangi Airlines. Almost all airline services have flights to Abuja, except for Med-view Airline which only flies to Lagos. IRS Airlines meanwhile, has services going to Lagos and Maiduguri. Passenger statistics peaked at 108,677 enplanements in 2009.
Yola Airport and its terminal was renovated and refurbished in early 2014 as part of the thrust of the federal government to improve the quality of its airports as well as its services. The airport underwent a major facelift, with a terminal that is of modern design and is matching with the other airports in Nigeria such as the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu Airport, and Abuja Airport.
Services and Facilities
Yola Airport previously has two runways measuring 5,160 feet and 9,840 feet long, respectively. The former was closed due to inactivity, and the latter is now being used by all commercial services. Within the terminal, a spacious waiting area, as well as departure and arrival halls, is available. Baggage carousels are added to the mix too, although other facilities and services, such as banking and ATM, restaurants, lounges, and others, are currently not available within the airport. Cargo facilities meanwhile, are to be made available in the airport in the near future.
