Named after Queen Alia, the third wife of King Hussein of Jordan, Queen Alia International Airport is located in Zizya, 32 km south from the capital city, Amman. In 2013, the airport underwent an overhaul and replaced their old terminal with a new one. Within the airport, there are a number of retail shops selling souvenirs, books, food and beverages. Hub to national carrier, Royal Jordanian Airline, the airport also has a lounge for first class and business class passengers of Royal Jordanian Airline. Departing guests from Queen Alia International Airport can spend some time in the airport’s ‘cooling gardens’, which are planted with native flora. Queen Alia International Airport can be easily accessed from Amman by taxi or the Airport Express bus. The journey will take between 45 minutes to an hour.

Mount Nebo is an elevated ridge that is located less than an hour’s drive away from the airport. According to the old testament of the Bible and the Quran, Mount Nebo was where the prophet Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land. Head up to the summit to capture the breathtaking panoramic view of the Holy Land and visit the Church of St. Stephen, which archeologists have unearthed. Marvel at the mosaic floor of the Umayade epoch, which depicts Jordanian, Palestinian, and Egyptian city plans.
