Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, officially named as Royal Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, is the primary international airport serving the country of Netherlands. The airport is located in the city of Amsterdam in the province of Holland. The Amsterdam airport also serves as a hub for the country’s flag carrier, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and for KLM Cityhopper which is a regional airline under the KLM group.
The Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has one terminal building divided into three sections. Departure Hall 1 operates flights from the Schengen areas. Departure Hall 2 also serves Schengen flights on the upper floor as well as non-Schengen flights on the lower level. Lastly, Departure Hall 3 serves mostly SkyTeam member airlines such as KLM, China Airlines and Korean Air. The departure hall also serves other carriers such as Emirates and low-cost airlines such as EasyJet and Flybe.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is located approximately 16 kilometres from the city centre of Amsterdam. A taxi from the city centre to the airport would cost around EUR40-50 (MYR200-250) and take about 14 minutes of travel time. Taking the train or bus would be cheaper alternatives for around EUR3-11 (MYR15-55) and a travel time of 15 minutes by train and about 35 minutes by bus.
