Hong Kong International Airport is the primary airport serving Hong Kong. The airport is located on Chek Lap Kok, an island of reclaimed land built for the airport. Also known as Chek Lap Kok Airport after its location, the airport is a hub for numerous airlines including Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines and Cathay Dragon. It also serves as a focus city for China Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.
The Hong Kong airport has four passenger buildings. Terminal 1 and 2 are where passengers will find the airline check-in areas while the North Satellite Concourse and Midfield Concourse are where you will find the gates. Terminal 1 serves mostly international flights such as Air New Zealand, Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways. Meanwhile, Terminal 2 serves primarily low-cost airlines such as AirAsia, Jetstar Asia and Vanilla Air. Some of the regional airlines also have check-in counters at Terminal 2 such as Bangkok Airways, Philippine Airlines and Thai Airways.
The Hong Kong International Airport is located approximately 39 kilometres from the city centre of Hong Kong. A taxi ride from the city centre to the airport would take about 28 minutes of travel time and cost around HKD370-465 (MYR200-250). There are cheaper alternatives to get to the airport. Taking the bus would cost around HKD35-50 (MYR18-25) and about 28 minutes of travel time. The airport express train would also be cost-effective for only HKD85-105 (MYR45-55) with a travel time of about 26 minutes.
