South Korea is a big, beautiful country, with many amazing tourist hotspots outside of Seoul. One of the most worth-seeing? The Beomeosa Temple (also known as the Temple of the Nirvana Fish) in Busan, that has a history of more than 1,000 years. Situated on the slope of the Geumjeongsan Mountain, this is one of the most important buildings for the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It houses numerous artefacts that have been classified as official treasures; some of these include the Three Story Stone Pagoda, the Daeungjeon main temple hall, 2 stone flag pole holders, an ancient Stone Lamp and many more. Even for the non-religious, this Temple and its relics of great historical significance are a sight not to be missed, and promises to be both an educational and awe-inspiring experience.

If you’ve some days off for a short vacation, how about a quick trip to another North Asian city – Sapporo, the prefectural capital of Hokkaido and Japan’s northernmost city? The host city of the 1972 Winter Olympic Games (and the city behind Sapporo Beer), Sapporo is a beautiful region that is favored by tourists of all nationalities. Don’t miss one of the little city’s regionally-renowned festivals like the ‘Sapporo Snow Festival’ (or ‘Yuki Matsuri’, in Japanese) held in winter, around the months of January and February. The Snow Festival has been an annual event in Sapporo since 1950, and features magnificent snow and ice sculptures depicting all sorts of creatures (both mystical and real) set up all over the city. If you can imagine a winter wonderland, Sapporo truly embodies it during this magical festival.
