Cheap flights from South Africa

The Republic of South Africa is located at the southern tip of the African continent, bordered by Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland and other African countries. The country boasts immense geographic and biological diversity, being home to various types of natural terrain - from deserts, forests, beaches and mountains to savannahs and more - which in turn is home to a huge diversity of wildlife, both on land and in the surrounding ocean. Being at the edge of the continent also means that South Africa has almost 3,000 kilometres of coast, facing the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

South Africa is considered the 25th largest country in the world (as of May 2015) and, with more than 50 million inhabitants, also one of the most populous.

Don’t leave South Africa without visiting beautiful cosmopolitan Cape Town, one of the country’s top tourist attractions. Take a relaxing scenic cable car ride up the Mother City’s iconic Table Mountain, go on a whale-watching boat tour or shark-cage diving and grab a selfie with the adorable African penguins in their thousands at nearby Boulders Beach.

After Cape Town, a quick domestic flight will get you to South Africa’s ‘Surf City’ or ‘Seaside Playground’, Durban. With year-round warm weather and beautiful beaches, barbecues, curry restaurants and clubs, Durban is the perfect place for the relaxing weekend getaway you’ve always dreamed about. Go to the famous Golden Mile of beaches for some bathing or surfing in the warm blue waves, visit the Moses Mabhida Stadium, one of the host stadiums for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, take a gravity-defying SkyCar ride into the air for unparalleled views of this amazing city and finish off with a bungee swing.

Africa is an amazing, diverse continent, well worth the effort discovering. If you’ve time on your hands, grab a flight to fellow African country Tanzania for a look at the world-famous Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An area jam-packed with wildlife, the Serengeti’s many inhabitants include African elephants, giraffes, leopards, lions, cheetahs, rhinoceroses, wildebeests and crocodiles amongst many others. Its most famous feature, though, is no doubt the annual wildebeest migration. A truly incredible natural spectacle, the migration involves a million massive wildebeests following the cycle of life and charging through a 1,000 kilometre marathon to the north through crocodile-infested waters, all for the chance to graze at fresher grounds.

After all that traversing around the world’s southern edge, grab a long-haul flight to the other side of the planet to see what’s up there - discover Nordic Europe’s Oslo, capital of Norway and one of the most beautiful cities in the world’s north. This lively city - besides being the economic engine of Norway and one of the best cities in Europe quality-of-life wise - is nestled amidst some of the greatest natural wonders on the planet, including great mountain ranges like the Hallingskarvet, Norway’s highest waterfall Vøringsfossen, stunning fjords filled with crystal clear water, Europe’s highest mountain plateau Hardangervidda, spectacular glaciers and much more. With so much beauty surrounding the city, its no surprise that Oslo is considered the perfect gateway for nature-lovers to get in touch with the great outdoors.
