Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the largest airport in Bangladesh, was previously known as Zia International Airport and serves the capital city of Dhaka. The airport took over as the Bangladesh’s capital international airport from Tejgaon Airport and is currently a hub for several airlines such as United Airways and Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The Dhaka airport currently serves over 8 million passengers annually.
The Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka has three terminals. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 operates all international flights while the third terminal named Domestic Terminal operates all domestic flights. The airport currently has minimal services and facilities. There are banking facilities available such as ATMs and currency exchange kiosks as well as a few shops for food and beverage. The airport also has two airport lounges with shower facilities both located airside. WiFi is available only inside the lounges. There are currently no hotels or accommodation at the airport, but there are a few hotels located nearby.

Travelling to and from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Dhaka’s city centre
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is located in Kurmitola in Dhaka’s northern area. It is approximately 18 kilometres from the city centre of Dhaka. A taxi ride from the airport to the city centre would take about 22 minutes of travel time and cost around BDT430-530 (MYR22-27).
A cheaper alternative would be to take the train operated by Bangladesh Railway. The train journey from the Biman Bandar Airport Station to the city centre would cost BDT20 (MYR1) and take about 45 minutes of travel time. The train departs the airport five times per day.
