How to get around within Windhoek
There is no established public transport network in Windhoek so to speak, but there is a system of shared taxis which are similar to combies in South African cities. These taxis run between the townships and the main industrial/commercial areas of the city. Routes are not fixed like bus routes which gives some added flexibility, however this also means that fares between given destinations may not always be the same. Apart from shared taxis, there are also a number of car rental agencies operating in Windhoek. Walking is also always an option, especially when not planning to go out of main Windhoek.
How to get there
Domestically, Windhoek Eros Airport is the best way to land and arrive to Windhoek. The airport serves flights between Windhoek and Katima Mulilo, Windhoek and Ondangwa, and Windhoek and Rundy via Air Namibia. However, for international travellers and for areas not connected to the airport, they may land through the Hosea Kutako International Airport. The Hosea Kutako International Airport is the main international airport of Namibia and the primary airport of Windhoek, located some 45 kilometres east of the city.
