Best Time to Visit Kiev
The peak tourist season is during summer (July and August), but the best time to visit is during spring (May through September) when the temperatures are pleasant for sightseeing. Winter, although cold, offers a number of winter activities and sports.
Nonetheless, there are festivals all year round, such as the Opera Gala in June and the Ukrainian Fashion Week in October.

What to see in Kiev
Take a stroll at the green parks centrally located in the cities, such as Mariyinsky and Khreshchatyj Parks. For a poignant look into the tragedy at Chernobyl Nuclear Plant, visit the National Chernobyl Museum.
The Museum of One Street is definitely a must-go, where the rich history of Ukraine is told through the street of Andriyivsky Descent. You can also get a souvenir at the art bazaar, art galleries, craft shops and local art. St Sophia Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage landmark with 11th-century mosaics and interior with paintings over 1000 years old.
You should also visit St Cyril’s Monastery, a small church dating back to the 12th century with 800 sqm of restored frescoes. Also, do not miss the Golden Gate, a medieval city gate that has been reconstructed as a proof of the rich history of Kiev.
What to eat in Kiev
Try some hot and piping borscht, a tasty soup full of meat and vegetables, with bread - either buns or dark rye bread - in Kiev. The varenyky are a local favourite: big dumplings with various fillings such as sweet cherries and fruit or potatoes and mushrooms. Cured pork fat, or salo, is considered the national dish of Ukraine. Have it with a dish or in thin slices on its own.
