Nicaragua, officially the Republic of Nicaragua, is the largest country in the Central American isthmus. It is bordered by Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south, with the Pacific Ocean to its west and the Caribbean Sea to its east. The country is home to many significant and unique ecosystems, contributing to Mesoamerica being a biodiversity hotspot. Nicaragua’s capital and largest city is Managua, which is also the third largest city in Central America.

In addition to ecotourism, various other sites and activities can also be enjoyed in Nicaragua. The colonial cities of Leon and Granada are famous tourist spots, as well as the cities of Masaya, Rivas, San Juan del Sur, El Ostional, El Castillo, Rio San Juan, Ometepe, and the Corn Islands. Popular recreation activities include sport fishing and surfing. Nicaragua is also home to some excellent beaches, scenic routes, and architecturally noteworthy structures.
