Although the sights of Berlin and other popular cities in Germany can be captivating, one must also look beyond them to appreciate more of the country. Lower Saxony in the northwest features a variety of attractions for tourists. Hannover, the capital, makes such a fascinating place to see with its prestigious information and technology fairs, as well as a rich monarchical history that extends all the way to the United Kingdom. Other cities like Braunschweig, a city of Heinrich der Lowe, as well as the secluded environs of Juist also make interesting locations where one can spend days just looking around the landmarks.

Those who want to get out of the cities to check out enjoy the nature views can check out the coast of the North Sea to East Frisia. The islands here feature idyllic beach locales where one can visit to enjoy the sun, sea, and surf. There are also the North German Plains, which feature a mostly flat terrain with gentle rolling hills around the Bremen geestland. Such diverse sceneries make Lower Saxony exciting, especially for those who prefer the great outdoors.

What to see & do
A land of contrasts, Lower Saxony makes an exciting destination to discover some aspects of the heritage and culture of Germany. One can start with Hannover, a well-known business and trade centre across the country, which features a number of sights. There is the Sprengel Museum, where one can gaze at the facade of the ornate building and then go inside to view various works of art from the fivurative, abstract, and conceptual pieces. Tourists can then continue on to Oskar-Winter Brunnen, which was once the home of mathematician and philosopher. From here, tourists can head to other sites such as Berggarten, one of the green spaces in the city. This botanical garden has old lime years dating back to thousands of years. The mausoleum of George I of England can also be found nearby with other sights like the Kestner Museum, Markitkirce, and the Eilenriede Forest.

A pleasant historic old town is the feel which visitors often associate with Braunschweig. Various impressive structures can be seen here as well, which can be fascinating to behold. One of them is the Landesmuseum, which is full of exciting exhibits from a large Foucault pendulum to different artefacts. There is also the castle of Heinrich der Lowe to view, which houses a glittering medieval collection from a bronze lion statue dating back to 1166 among other grand furnishings. From here, tourists can check out Altstadtmarkt, an old marketplace which was turned into an appealing square.

Oldenburg with its name can be a perfect transit point between Bremen and the East Frisian islands. Those going here will find a town that has little memory of its past due to the lack of medieval buildings. Despite this, the town is still a fine place to explore, especially its museums, such as the Augusteum, which displays European paintings, and the Landesmuseum Natur und Mensch that features exhibits on the local wildlife of the region.
