Cheap flights to Schleswig-Holstein

Schleswig-Holstein is known as the northernmost of the 16 states of Germany. Schleswig-Holstein comprises most of the historical duchy of Holstein and the southern part of the former Duchy of Schleswig. Schleswig-Holstein's capital city is Kiel and its other notable cities are Lübeck, Flensburg, and Neumünster.

Schleswig-Holstein's former English name was Sleswick-Holsatia, while the Danish name is Slesvig-Holsten; the Low German name is Sleswig-Holsteen, and the North Frisian name is Slaswik-Holstiinj.

Culturally, Schleswig-Holstein combines Danish and German aspects of culture and the castles and manors in the countryside are the best example for this. Its cuisine is also influenced by these two with dishes such as Rødgrød or Rote Grütze in German, meaning literally in English as "red grits" or "red groats", and surnames such as Hansen.

The most important festivals in Schleswig-Holstein are the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, which is an annual classic music festival all over the state, and the Lübeck Nordic Film Days, an annual film festival for movies from Scandinavian countries, held in Lübeck.

Schloss Gottorf - Located in Schleswig, this museum is located in the Dukes of Gottorf’s castle in Schleswig, which used to be an 18th-century palace and medieval fortress. The Schleswig-Holstein Landesmuseum is full of art treasures such as a roomful of paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder and a wood-panelled 17th-century wine tavern from Lübeck create a memorable first impression. This museum is also known for its contemporary collection, including an entire Jugendstil Abteilung and 20th-century paintings, sketches, lithographs, and woodcuts from German artists such as Emil Nolde and Ernst Barlach.

Holstentor - This monument is located in Lübeck and was built in 1464. This structure has a pair of twin pointed cylindrical towers that are leaning together across the stepped gable that joins them, captivated Andy Warhol (his print is in the St Annen Museum), and have graced postcards, paintings, posters, and marzipan souvenirs.
