Things to do in Ho Chi Minh City
When in Ho Chi Minh City, visit the Reunification Palace, a historical building that served as a command centre during the Vietnam War. Visitors can peek into the bunker, reception halls, and secret rooms of the Reunification Palace during their trip.
Apart from that, scour through the stalls at the Ben Thanh Market, and admire the Saigon Central Post Office and the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon. If you have more time to spare, make a trip to Cao Dai Temple, located northwest of the city. This is a place of worship for the people who practise the Cao Dai religion. The temple has an interesting design, with cloud murals on the ceiling, pillars decorated with flying dragons, and colourful paintings.
In Ho Chi Minh City, you are bound to taste some traditional Vietnamese dishes. A must-try would be banh bao, a small round fried rice cake topped with pork rinds and shrimp powder, and eaten with fish sauce. There is also banh canh, a Vietnamese-style udon served with crab soup, green onions, and lime on top.
