Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore

Singapore Changi Airport’s cluster of gardens and nature trails easily reminds you why Singapore is often called a garden city. The airport is the main hub for air travel in the city-state and a major player in the region’s aviation industry.

Changi consists of three passenger terminals, with a forth one dedicated to low-cost carriers expected to be ready by 2017. Ongoing upgrading and expansion work will take place over the next decade to boost the airport’s capability in handling larger volumes of traffic.

Getting around the airport is relatively easy and convenient. All the terminals are directly connected via skytrain and shuttle services, but the buses only serve public areas.

The airport is well connected to numerous destinations by public transport. The Changi Airport Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station is on the East-West Line and provides direct access to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, alongside public buses. It also recommended for one to take a taxi and engage in friendly conversation with the driver- most drivers are more than glad to share their knowledge of Singapore with you. You can simply hail a cab from the streets or book one through your hotel.

Head to the 2.5 km long shopping belt located in Orchard, where you will find many of Singapore's largest malls and fanciest restaurants. There is an underground walkway that connects several notable shopping malls, ensuring that your shopping experience will never be dampened by unexpected showers common in the city-state. Each Christmas, the entire street is festively decorated lights, turning the area into visual kaleidoscope.

If you would like to experience the hustle and bustle of street shopping that Singapore has to offer, go to Chinatown, where tons of shops selling local paraphernalia and snacks line the streets. The area is full of historical buildings, and is one of the world's oldest and largest Chinatown areas. The recently renovated Chinatown food street is a good place for you to fill up on famous local dishes without having to travel too far. With iconic dishes from Chinese dialects and the different races in Singapore, this is the place for you enjoy an authentic Singapore experience.

Gardens by the Bay is a massive park located on reclaimed land in central Singapore, the perfect place for you rejuvenate your senses. Made up of three waterfront gardens carefully and purposefully sculpted and constructed, the garden has received rave reviews from both tourists and locals alike. A visit to the two cooled conservatories - the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest should be on your list while there, to discover unique plants from all over the world. When you’re done, take a walk along the OCBC skyway that connects two Supertrees, uniquely designed vertical gardens, and take in the captivating views of the gardens.
