Flights to Kuala Lumpur Sultan Abdul Azziz Shah | Skyscanner Malaysia

Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport - otherwise known as Subang International Airport or Subang Skypark - is one of a few airports serving the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Located closer to the city centre than main airport Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Subang Skypark is a popular alternative for locals when it comes to domestic flights or flights to Singapore. The airport is served by low-cost airlines such as Firefly - a subsidiary of national carrier Malaysia Airlines - and Berjaya Air, as well as a number of private aviation companies. In its heyday, Subang International Airport boasted 3 terminals, was the main airport serving Kuala Lumpur and housed the longest runway in Southeast Asia - however, the opening of KLIA in 1998 marked the end of its glory days. Subang Airport’s Terminal 1 was subsequently demolished and Terminal 3 remodelled to become Subang Skypark, with plans for Terminal 2 to undergo extensive renovations as well (as of December 2014).

Subang Skypark currently handles more than 1 million passengers yearly.

Getting around Kuala Lumpur

Located only about 9.5 miles from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the commute from Subang Sky-park to Kuala Lumpur takes only about 30 minutes (half the journey time to and from KLIA). If you are driving, simply take either the Federal or Sprint highway upon leaving the airport, which would lead you to the city quickly.

Taxis, relatively cheap and readily available, are the recommended mode of transport for tourists. For those on a tighter budget, shuttle buses are also available from Subang Skypark. These head to major landmarks and transport hubs in Kuala Lumpur such as the Pekeliling, Plaza Damas and LRT Kelana Jaya. Direct buses are also available from the airport and KL Sentral, the city’s main train and bus terminal.

What to see and do

Kuala Lumpur is often referred to as a gastronomic heaven, the place where many of Malaysia’s finest dishes can be found. Sample a whole new palate of tastes from Rendang, Popiah, Rojak to Char Kway Teow. Once your appetite has been whetted, the city’s many attractions await; go up the majestic Petronas Twin Towers for a panoramic view of the entire Malaysian peninsula, or visit Merdeka Square and Chinatown for some cultural indulgence. For the shopaholics, get ready for the shopping experience of your life - Kuala Lumpur was once featured as the world’s fourth best shopping city in CNNGo, and contains 3 of the world’s 10 largest malls.
