Departure from Kuala Lumpur International Airport

There are several ways of getting to the airport for your flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo. The fastest and most convenient way is via the KLIA Express train which departs from KL Sentral. The JR Sobu Line is an alternative mode of transportation from Narita Airport to Tokyo city centre for budget conscious travellers who find the JR Narita Express too expensive. It also serves a direct route to Tokyo station but will take 90 minutes to reach. The ticket will cost JPY 1,320 (RM48) and departs every hour.

Narita International Airport also provides a limousine bus service from the airport to Tokyo station which departs every 20 minutes from the airport. This service will cost JPY 3,100 (RM113) and have a journey time of an hour 40 minutes.

Alternatively, the Tokyo Shuttle Bus could be another option for the budget conscious travellers. This direct bus leaves 3 times in an hour and the one-way fare cost JPY 1,000 (RM36) during the day and JPY 2,000 (RM73) for late night and early morning departures. Purchasing a ticket online in advance will cost only JPY 900 (RM33).

Taking a public taxi is not recommended as the airport is located 60km away from central Tokyo and will be extremely expensive.

Narita International Airport (NRT) Information

Narita International Airport is divided into 3 terminals with terminal 3 housing all the low-cost carriers. Duty-free shopping is available in all 3 terminals with a wide variety of shops available. Restaurants are also widely available with some places open for 24-hours. For travellers searching for Halal options in the airport, there are Halal certified places in terminal 1 and 2. Complimentary WiFi and prayer rooms are available for passengers throughout all terminals in the airport.

Arrival at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND)

Tokyo Haneda airport is located 14km south of Tokyo station and is the closer to the city centre than Narita Airport. Once arriving from your flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo, the most convenient mode of transportation to get to your Tokyo accommodation is by limousine bus or a private airport transfer. Both these ways are direct, with the airport transfer going straight to your hotel and the limousine bus going to Tokyo station. Using the limousine bus will take between 40 - 55 minutes and the bus fare will cost JPY 930 (RM34).

Alternatively, travellers who are on a budget have the option of taking the Tokyo monorail which only takes 30 minutes. The fare will cost JPY 650 (RM24) and has frequent connections. There is also the option of taking Keikyu railway.

Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) Information

Tokyo Haneda Airport is divided into 3 terminals. Terminal 1 and 2 are for domestic flights while Terminal 3 is for international ones. Terminal 1 and 2 are connected by an underground walkway. There is also a shuttle bus provided between terminals if needed. Travellers arriving from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo Haneda Airport will arrive in Terminal 3 where a wide variety of duty-free and dining options are available. Complimentary WiFi is available for passengers although there are no prayer rooms available for travellers upon arriving as the only prayer room is the departure area.
