Scoot flights

Scoot is a low-cost airline based in Singapore offering medium to long-haul flights. Founded in 2011, Scott is owned by Singapore Airlines and was launched to cater mostly flights to Australia and China. It has since expanded to a fleet size of 12 aircraft operating flights to 9 countries across Asia.

Scoot is distinctive from other subsidiaries of Singapore Airlines with SilkAir focused on being a regional full-service airline to short-haul destinations and Tigerair primarily being a budget airline for the Singapore Airlines group. Scoot is headquartered in Singapore and also has its central hub at the Singapore Changi Airport. It is a member of Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer frequent flyer program and a member of the low-cost airline alliance, Value Alliance.

Scoot currently does not operate any flights from or to Malaysia. However, flights from Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Penang to other Scoot destinations can be booked on their website through codeshare agreements with Tigerair.

Why Fly with Scoot

How to Check In

Scoot provides passengers several ways to check-in for flights. The airline recommends that travellers check-in online to avoid crowds and delays at the airport. Scoot's web check-in service is available 72 hours to an hour before the scheduled flight departure. The service is available to passengers with non-connecting flights booked through their official website, third-party travel website or Scoot's call centre. If unable to check-in online, passengers can still proceed directly to the airport and make use of the airport check-in counters or any of the check-in kiosks available at selected airports. It is recommended that travellers arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before their departure to complete check-in procedures and have ample time for the customs, security and immigration checks.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

As a low-cost carrier, Scoot does not offer complimentary baggage allowance. However, the airline has made several fare bundles available with different baggage options. Their FlyBag and FlyBagEat fare packages include up to 20 kilogrammes of baggage allowance while their ScootBiz allows passengers to check-in up to 30 kilogrammes of luggage. If more is needed, passengers can purchase up to 40 kilogrammes of baggage allowance regardless of the fare bundle purchased. Excess baggage fees or buying baggage allowance at the airport may be more expensive, so it is highly recommended to pre-purchase these before the flight. For hand carried or cabin baggage, Economy Class passengers are allowed up to 1 piece of hand carried item not exceeding 10 kilogrammes or 2 items including a handbag or laptop bag with total weight not exceeding 10 kilogrammes. Business Class passengers can hand carry up to 2 items with a combined weight not exceeding 15 kilogrammes. Scoot also offers an Extra Cabin Bag option to purchase an additional 7 kilogrammes of cabin baggage allowance.

Scoot offers two types of cabin classes – Economy and ScootBiz. The airline prides itself on being the only low-cost airline that has a full fleet of wide-body 787 Dreamliners. This allows for Scoot's Economy class seating to be more spacious compared to other low-cost airlines. Standard seats in Economy have a seat width of 18 inches and pitch of 31 inches. The Super Seat option in Economy has 30% more legroom with a seat pitch of 34 inches. Stretch Seats are the first row seats making them the most spacious seats in Economy with 50% more legroom. ScootBiz or the airline's business class offers more luxury and comfort during the flight. Seats in the business class cabin are encased in comfortable leather with double the legroom and equipped with in-seat power for charging up personal devices. The seats have 38 inches of legroom, a width of 22 inches and recline 8 inches.

In-flight services

Scoot does not offer complimentary onboard dining. However, hot meals and snacks are made available for purchase at booking and in-flight. Depending on the fare class purchased, a meal will be served during the flight for Economy passengers while all ScootBiz passengers will be offered a selection of meals. For in-flight entertainment, Scoot offers ScooTV – the airline's streaming entertainment service accessible on the passengers own personal devices such as a laptop, tablet or mobile phone. ScooTV is complimentary to all ScootBiz passengers while Economy passengers can purchase this online. ScooTV is loaded with the latest Hollywood, Asian and International movies as well as popular TV shows.
