Kualanamu International Airport is a recently-opened airport to replace Polonia International Airport that previously served Medan, Indonesia. There is a decent variety of cafes and restaurants as well as apparel shops and souvenirs. Wi-Fi connection is also available as well as prayer rooms.
The airport is located 40km away from the Medan city centre and at present, the most reliable service for travelling the journey is by taking the train, which will take half an hour. You may also want to take a taxi, after verifying the authenticity with airport services.

Along with Muslim and Buddhist buildings, there is also Annai Velangkanni, which might deceive you as it has a Tamil Hindu-style architecture, but is actually a Catholic Shrine. There are also the authentic Tamil Hindu temples, Shri Mariamman as well as Pura Agung Raksa Bhuana.

If you are a foodie, then you must visit Kesawan Square in the evening. It’s a hawker centre where all Medan’s cuisines can be tried. You might not want to leave once you start eating.
