Cannot wait to return

A truly wonderful stay. My sister and I shared a canal view room that was lovely, comfortable, and the views were fantastic. Breakfast was very good with plentiful options. We loved the yogurt! The staff were friendly, confident, and simply fun. Sure there are stairs everywhere- it’s Amsterdam! If you want an authentic experience stay here. I’m returning this fall!

I Left my Heart in Herengracht: A Magical Stay at The Ambassade

My husband, daughter and I spent a truly magical, wonderful week in Amsterdam at The Ambassade. The central location—along the beautiful Herengracht in a row of converted canal houses—made walking to all the many museums, shops and restaurants very easy and delightful. I requested two rooms close by, which the hotel thoughtfully provided. All the rooms appear to be unique, and both of ours were attractive, comfortable and well-appointed. We were on the top floor, so we got soaring ceilings—with a skylight!—and a rooftop view of the charming homes surrounding us. It was very quiet on our floor, so we slept well in our very cozy beds. Housekeeping was always done efficiently and everything was very impeccably clean. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming, answering any questions and ordering transportation when we needed it. This was my first visit to Amsterdam and I sincerely hope it will not be my last. I would stay again at The Ambassade in a heartbeat and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a first-rate experience.

Lucky find

We booked 2 rooms on short notice and felt like we really lucked out with our choice. The location can’t be beat. It is half way between the Anne Frank house and the museum district, near tons of cute boutique shops and restaurants. Every person we interacted with at the hotel was friendly and helpful. They booked a canal cruise for us and gave tips on local restaurants. They also added portable air conditioners to the rooms to make the heat wave bearable! We would definitely stay here again.

A refined and beautiful hotel in the heart of the Nine Streets - super central yet far away from the tourist masses around the central station/boat docks area. Endless dining options around. Wonderful staff. Beautiful history and artwork in the rooms, A library with drinks on offer. A delicious breakfast. The price however is high and, for us, this was a super special treat. Our room with a view was on the fourth floor and that meant we really could only see some trees outside - the canal was too far down to enjoy from the window. Request a lower room if you want the view.

Beware of the internal courtyard room. It is not in pictures

The staff is very good. The breakfast is good. Our room was probably one of the worst in the hotel. It is not in any pictures. It was warm when we arrived. They seemed to know the air conditioning did not work. But only because we mentioned it, they brought in a large unit that took up precious floor space. They failed to hook it up right. Hot air continued to pour into the room. Beware of the internal courtyard room that does not bring in much light and it too warm to be comfortable. My husband thought he picked a special place. It might be for others. He was very disappointed it wasn't special for us.
