AirAsia Flights

AirAsia, one of Asia's leading low-cost airlines, was established in 1993. The airline operates flights to over 165 destinations across 20 countries worldwide including flights to Chiang Mai, Singapore, Bali, Hong Kong and Shanghai. A favourite among travellers, AirAsia offers cheap fares all year round. 

 

A Malaysian low-cost airline, AirAsia is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Selangor, Malaysia. Despite being a budget carrier, AirAsia is considered to be the largest airline in Malaysia based on the size of its fleet and on the number of destinations it offers. It also prides itself to be the biggest low-cost carrier in Asia based on the number of passengers carried and fleet size. AirAsia has also won numerous awards and has consistently been awarded as the best low-cost airline in the world for eight straight years.

Why fly with AirAsia

Check-In

AirAsia offers several ways to check-in for the convenience and comfort of its passengers. Travellers can choose to check-in via the web, mobile or through the check-in kiosks situated at the airport. AirAsia’s web check-in is available from 14 days to 1 hour before your scheduled departure time. Be sure to keep your booking number handy as well as check that you are connected to a printer before checking in online. Visit the airline’s official website to check-in and simply follow the steps provided. Remember, even if you complete your web registration, document verification is required at the airport, so it is recommended that you arrive at the airport at least 3 to 1 hour before departure. Travellers can also choose to check-in through the airline's official mobile app. Simply open the app and follow the steps provided. Once you're checked-in, the carrier will provide an E-Boarding Pass or a 2D barcode you can use to print your boarding pass at any of the check-in kiosks located at the airport.

Baggage Allowance

AirAsia does not offer free baggage allowance but travellers can pre-purchase this at a discounted rate during the booking process or through the airline's website. Each checked baggage must not exceed 32 kilogrammes in weight and 81cm (H) x 119cm (W) 119cm (D) x in dimension. Baggage allowance can be purchased at from 15kg (domestic flights only) or 20kg up to 40kg in increments of 5kg. All passengers are allowed one piece of baggage to carry on the plane and one laptop bag or handbag. Each cabin baggage should not weigh more than 7kg and exceed the maximum dimensions of 23cm (H) x 56cm (W) x 36cm (D).

Seating

AirAsia operates flights using two aircraft – the Airbus A320 and Airbus A330. In the A320, passengers can choose to purchase premium seats called ‘Hot Seats' which are located in the front of the cabin and emergency rows. Hot Seats have more legroom and have priority boarding. Meanwhile, in the A330, there is another option called ‘Premium Flatbed' where passengers can enjoy more space and a reclining seat that extends to a flatbed. Flights on the Airbus A330 also have a ‘Quiet Zone' where passengers can enjoy a flight with minimal noise, fewer disturbances and ambient lighting. No kids below ten years old are allowed in the Quiet Zone.

In-flight Services

In-flight entertainment on selected AirAsia flights are available for rent. A pre-loaded mobile device, the Xcite Tab, comes with a library of popular movies, TV series, music, games and books. However, these devices are limited, so it is best to pre-book before your flight. In-flight meals are also available for a fee. These can be pre-purchased before the flight, at a discounted rate, for your choice of hot meal or snacks. Onboard meals are also available for purchase during the flight. However, there may be limited availability so be sure to pre-purchase to avoid disappointment and take advantage of savings.

Booking Fees/Payment Methods

With multiple channels, paying for an AirAsia ticket is very convenient. For credit card payment, AirAsia accepts Visa, MasterCard, JCB or American Express. JCB and American Express can only be accepted in selected currencies. You can also make payment online via direct debit – online fund transfer, online ATM card payment, or e-wallet account. This option is only available for payment in the following currencies - MYR, SGD, BHT, and USD etc. Note that options vary for payments in different currencies, so do check AirAsia’s website on the applicable modes of payment for your flight route. AirAsia charges a processing fee for payment via credit, debit, charge or direct debit. It is levied on new flight bookings or flight amendments and is charged per guest per way.
