Check-in

AirAsia X offers its passengers several options for checking in for their flights. For the utmost convenience and from the comfort of your home, AirAsia X recommends their web check-in facilities. Just visit the airline's official website and follow the steps provided. For those that don't have a printer handy, AirAsia X also offers the option of sending boarding passes through a 2D barcode sent to smartphones or by email. Web check-in is available for all AirAsia X flights from 14 days to 4 hours before departure. 

 

Mobile check-in is also available. Download the free app which is available for both iOS and Android devices. Open your app and follow the simple check-in procedures. Once completed, you will receive an E-Boarding Pass or 2D barcode. Mobile check-in is available from 14 days to 4 hours before scheduled departure time. 

 

Should you choose to check-in at the airport, kiosk check-in is available at selected airports in Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. You can check-in through the kiosks from 14 days to 1 hour before scheduled departure time. 

 

For passengers who are checking in baggage into the hold, head to the baggage drop counter before proceeding to security and immigration checks. Note that flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) are required to go through self-check-in. 

Baggage Allowances

As a low-fare carrier, AirAsia X does not offer complimentary baggage allowance. For discounted rates, it is recommended to pre-book or pre-purchased baggage allowance through the airline's official website. Standard rates will apply for purchasing baggage allowance at the airport check-in counters. Each checked baggage should not exceed the maximum dimension size of 81cm in height, 119cm in width and 119cm in depth. The maximum weight limit for each checked baggage is 32 kilogrammes. Passengers can pre-purchase checked baggage allowance from 15 kilogrammes up to 40 kilogrammes in increments of 5 kilogrammes from domestic flights and from 20 kilogrammes to 40 kilogrammes for international flights. For flights to or from the United States, the piece system is used. Passengers can purchase one piece up to 20 kilogrammes or 2 items at 20 kilogrammes each.

Seating

AirAsia X has the distinction of being the first long-haul low-cost carrier offering Premium Flatbed seats for the ultimate comfort of its passengers. The airline also offers premium services such as Priority Check-In, Priority Boarding, Pick-A-Seat and complimentary meals and amenities. AirAsia X also gives the option for passengers to book seats within their "Quiet Zone" cabin that feature ambient lighting and tranquil cabin atmosphere.

In-flight services

AirAsia X offers onboard meals for purchase. These can also be pre-booked or pre-purchased at a discount through the airline’s official website. Flights that have a flight time of less than 75 minutes will only be offered snacks onboard. To get hot meals, these must be pre-booked before the departure. Similar to their meal service, onboard entertainment is available for an additional fee. AirAsia X offers the use of their Xcite Tab which comes preloaded with hours of the latest movies, popular TV programs, music libraries, games, and magazines. However, do note that the Xcite tab is not available for flights to New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and Nepal. To rent the Xcite tab, pre-book at RM49 (USD11) or rent at the standard rate of RM60 (USD14) onboard.
