Philippine Airlines also referred to as PAL, is the national and official flag carrier for the Philippines. Founded in 1941, the airline is headquartered in Pasay City with its central hub at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and secondary hubs at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Clark International Airport. Philippine Airlines is also the parent company for PAL Express which also operates domestic and international services in the Philippines. 

 

From its beginnings as the Philippine Aerial Taxi Company in 1935 to the official founding of Philippine Air Lines in 1941, the now Philippine Airlines has since grown to a fleet size of 55 aircraft – 78 if counting its subsidiaries – operating over 30 destinations in the Philippines and over 40 international destinations across Southeast Asia, East Asia, Oceania, North America, Europe and the Middle East. Philippine Airlines also has codeshare agreements with several airlines including All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways and Vietnam Airlines

 

Philippine Airlines currently operates daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Manila.

Check-in

Philippine Airlines provides passengers with several ways to check-in at their convenience and even from the comfort of home. The airline offers an online check-in facility through their official website and the mobile site where they can pre-select their preferred seating and print boarding passes. Online check-in is available from 24 hours up to an hour before the scheduled departure time. This service is available for all Philippine Airlines domestic flights and most international flights excluding flights from Xiamen and Jinjiang in China and Saipan. Airport check-in is also available for passengers who wish to proceed direct to the airport to check-in. It is recommended to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before the departure time to give ample time to get through the security and immigration checks.

Baggage allowances and fees

Philippine Airlines offers complimentary checked baggage allowance for all flights. The maximum weight of checked baggage will vary depending on the route and fare class. For domestic flights, Economy Class are allowed to check-in baggage from 10 to 25 kilogrammes depending on the fare type while Business Class can check-in from 30 to 35 kilogrammes of checked baggage. Excess baggage fees for domestic flights are charged at PHP200 (MYR18) per kilogramme. For international flights, Economy Class passengers are allowed to check-in 20 to 35 kilogrammes while Business Class passengers are allowed 30 to 40 kilogrammes. Excess baggage fees also vary depending on the flight route. It is best to check with the airline’s official website or with your ticketing agent for the latest information about your baggage allowance.

Seating

Philippine Airlines offers two cabin classes on the flights they operate. Economy Class passengers will enjoy the new Weber seats that feature an actuating seat pan which allows the seat bottom cushion to be adjusted up or forward to support the body and have a more comfortable in-flight experience. Business Class passengers will experience additional comfort with seats that are adjustable to a variety of positions and recline up to a 15-degree angle. Each seat also comes equipped with a 15-inch monitor for the best of in-flight entertainment viewing.

In-flight services

Philippine Airlines offers passengers complimentary onboard dining for flights exceeding 45 minutes' flight time. Economy Class passengers will enjoy specially crafted, traditional and fusion meals while Business Class passengers can enjoy a selection of Western, Japanese and Filipino dishes crafted by celebrated chefs. All passengers are offered a wide variety of beverages to pair with their meals. Philippine Airlines also provides the latest, fully digital inflight entertainment system that comes with an extensive library of the latest movies, popular TV shows and music as well as many options for games.
