China Eastern Flights

China Eastern Airlines is one the major airlines in China. The airline was founded in 1988 with headquarters in Shanghai, China. It has its primary hubs at the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and Shanghai Pu Dong Airport with secondary hubs at the Beijing Capital, Kunming Airport and Xi’an Xianyang Airport. It is also the parent company of China United Airlines and Shanghai Airlines.

China Eastern Airlines has a fleet size of over 450 aircraft operating flights to over 210 international, domestic and regional destinations. The airline is also said to be the second-largest carrier by passenger numbers in China.

China Eastern Airlines has a frequent-flyer programme called Eastern Miles and is a member of the global airline alliance, SkyTeam along with Air France, China Airlines, Delta and KLM. The airline also has codeshare agreements with several airlines including British Airways, Etihad Airways, Hong Kong Airlines and Virgin America.

China Eastern Airlines has a considerably strong presence in the regions of Asia, Australia and North America. In Malaysia, the airline operates flights from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai.

How to Check In

China Eastern Airlines offers passengers several ways to check-in for flights. The airline recommends passengers to use their online check-in service to avoid the long queues and waiting time at the airport. Passengers can check-in online with their e-ticket number and follow the steps to select seats and print boarding passes. Online check-in is available from 24 hours up to 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time. It is still recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least 60 minutes before departure to go through the security, customs and immigration checks.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

China Eastern Airlines offers complimentary baggage allowance. The quantity and size of baggage allowance will vary depending on the booked travel class and flight route. Passengers in Economy Class are allowed up to 20 kilogrammes per piece, Business Class passengers are allowed up to 30 kilogrammes, and First Class passengers are allowed up to 40 kilogrammes per piece. It is best to check the airline's official website for the latest and up to date information about baggage allowance.

For hand carried or cabin baggage, Economy and Business Class passengers are allowed to carry one piece of luggage while First Class passengers can hand carry up to two pieces of luggage. Each bag must not exceed the total weight of 10 kilogrammes and the total dimension size of 115 centimetres or 45 inches. Excess baggage fees will apply and vary depending on flight route.


China Eastern Airlines offers three cabin classes – Economy, Business and First Class. Availability of these cabin classes will vary depending on flight route and aircraft. The airline also offers seat reservations on some selected routes. Seat reservations can be made through the airline's official website, customer service hotline, booking office or any authorised booking agent. China Eastern Airlines also offers Priority Seating where passengers can choose front row seats or emergency exit row seats as well as seats located in rows 34-40 and 62-65 for an additional fee. Standard seating is available for reservation with no added cost.

In-flight Services

China Eastern Airlines offers complimentary onboard dining where passengers can choose from a selection of Chinese and Western meals. Light snacks such as fruits, salads and sandwiches are also available.

In-flight entertainment is available. Passengers can choose from a variety of the latest movies, popular TV shows as well as listen to an extensive music library.
