The gigantic Syntrend Creative Park opened its doors in mid-2015, and is already nicknamed the ‘Akihabara of Taipei’. It boasts 12 storeys, each with a different theme (for example, Level 2 is dedicated to ‘Touch’ devices, Level 5 to ‘Listen’ gadgets, etc) and, being spacious and comfy, is designed to keep you happy and entertained for an entire day. Expect slightly higher prices than grungier hangouts like Guanghua, but also creature comforts such as a ‘Junior’ section for kid-friendly technology, and a quality food court serving Taiwanese treats.

Can’t handle gargantuan malls? NOVA Electronics Mall may be easier on you. This 4-storey version of Guanghua Digital Plaza is a favourite for budget-scouring Taiwanese students and is conveniently located right by the Taipei Main Station metro. Be prepared with cash on hand, though, as few of NOVA’s vendors accept card payment.

4. Camera Street – shutterbug paradise
Looking for a camera? Head to Camera Street then!
