Cheap flights from Ukraine

Ukraine is an Eastern European country that is bordered by Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Belarus, and the mighty Russia. An area that has seen human inhabitation since BC times, Ukraine was once part of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union before becoming independent in 1991. Though recently struck by political instability, Ukraine remains a great tourist attraction due to the scores of ancient architectural sites like castles, cathedrals, monasteries and cave cities that can be found within its area of about 200,000 square miles.

Don’t leave the country without visiting Ukraine’s capital city, Kiev (also spelt Kyiv), the largest and greenest city in the country. A thriving metropolis with a population of close to 3 million, Kiev is the centre of industrial and commercial development in Ukraine and is also known for its architecture and historically significant sites. Its nature is also world renowned - with a green zone of more than 40,000 hectares of woods, parks, and gardens in the heart of the city, Kiev becomes a scene of paradise-like beauty in spring and summer with its flowering shrubbery and blooming chestnut trees. Add that to its strategic location close to the Dnieper River and its no surprise that Kiev is considered one of the most beautiful cities of Europe.

If you’re looking for a beach holiday out of the country, a 5-hour flight can get you to the beautiful city of Antalya on the Turkish Riviera – often referred to as the ‘Turqoise Coast’, for obvious reasons – in southwest Turkey, right by the Mediterranean Sea. Full of gorgeous white sandy beaches, clear blue waters and almost year-long sunshine, Antalya is the perfect place for a relaxing bath in the sun and sea or some water sports, if you are so inclined. Don’t miss the picture-perfect Konyaaltı Beach (Konyaaltı Plaji), one of the main beaches of the city, with its gentle turquoise waves and rough sands.

For a vacay somewhere more exotic, how about a long-haul flight to South Africa’s gorgeous Cape Town? This is the perfect holiday destination for wildlife-lovers – with several oceanic migratory pathways bypassing the Western Cape and plenty of endemic flora and fauna, opportunities for environmentally-friendly nature tourism are plentiful. Go for a whale-watching boat or sea plane tour to observe the giants of the ocean in their natural habitat, secure in the knowledge that you aren’t fueling an industry that involves the inhumane confinement of nature’s beasts. Adrenaline-junkie? Try a shark-cage diving tour to get up close and personal with great white sharks from the safety of a steel-barred cage. Adorable African penguins in their thousands can also be seen at nearby Boulders Beach – watch them waddle on a gorgeous sandy beach, dive into the clear blue ocean, fish and engage in hilarious interactions with each other.
