London City Airport has one terminal, and is the closest airport to Central London, just 6 miles away. The small departures hall on the first floor has shops and places to eat including Aelia Duty Free, WHSmith, Boots, Caffe Nero and Panopolis. Free Wi-Fi access is available in the departures hall however you need to register for this in advance.

As a compact airport with just one terminal you will find the check-in, security process and locating the boarding gate to be quicker than larger London airports. All check-in desks open two hours before the scheduled flight departure time. British Airways check-in desks close 20 minutes before the flight time, and boarding begins 10 minutes before the flight.
Online check-in is available from all airlines operating flights from London City Airport. If you are travelling with hold luggage you will need to take your bags to the check-in desks. British Airways passengers can use the blue self service kiosks in the check-in hall to get a bag tag and then drop off the bag at the British Airways check-in desks.

Pick up and drop off at London City Airport

If you're dropping passengers off at London City Airport you can do this at the terminal forecourt on Hartmann Road, no waiting is permitted here and you must remain with your car at all times.

If you need more time to drop off your passengers or are picking up passengers arriving at the airport you will need to use the short stay car park, this is a 2 minute walk from the terminal and next to the long stay car park and car rental drop off zone. Parking rates here are £2.50 for the first 10 minutes and £13 for up to one hour.

How to get to and from London City Airport

London City Airport in the Royal Docks, Newham is well connected to Central London by road, the DLR which connects to the London Underground and train services, and buses. London City Airport has an ideal location for those travelling to events at the London ExCel, 1 mile away and The O2, 4 miles away.

London City Airport by car

If approaching London City Airport from East London travel along the A13, exiting onto the A1020 then Connaught Bridge, following the signs for the airport. If approaching from Central London head towards Newham on the A13, exiting at Leamouth onto the A1011 then the A1020. Although only 10 miles away you should expect this journey to take at least one hour.
Car hire at London City Airport is available from the Car Rental Centre just outside of the terminal. Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz operate from here. If you're planning on driving into Central London be aware of the Congestion Zone Charge.

London City Airport by DLR

The Docklands Light Railway service (DLR) is the easiest way to reach your London destination by public transport with connections to train and London Underground services. To reach Central London you can take the DLR to the Bank Underground Station which has a journey time of 22 minutes and connects to Central, Circle, District, Northern, and Waterloo & City Underground lines or Stratford International which takes 15 minutes for National Rail train services.

The frequent services have departures every 8-15 minutes depending on the time of day so you won't need to wait very long for the next train.
The DLR station is connected to the airport via a covered walkways. A ticket office is at the station, London City Airport is in Zone 3.

London City Airport by bus/coach

London Buses operate two bus services with departures at the airport, these are Route 474 to Stratford and Route 473 to Canning Town and Manor Park.
