Saarbrücken is known as the capital of the state of Saarland in the country of Germany. Saarbrücken is Saarland's administrative, commercial, and cultural centre. The city lies next to the French border, and its location is at the heart of a metropolitan area, making the concentration of the people of Saarland high.

The capital Saarbrücken was created in 1909 through a merger of three towns namely Saarbrücken, St. Johann, and Malstatt-Burbach. It also used to be the industrial and transport centre of the Saar coal basin. The products that are made here include iron and steel, sugar, beer, pottery, optical instruments, machinery, and construction materials.

There are also many historic landmarks in the city which include the stone bridge across the Saar, the Gothic church of St Arnual, the 18th-century Saarbrücken Castle and the old part of the town, and the St. Johanner Markt or also known as Sankt Johann market.

Kreisständehaus - The Kreisständehaus is basically a single access to three museums. The Saarland Museum’s Alte Sammlung, Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte, and the Museum in der Schlosskirche all feature many artefacts and art from all over Germany. There is also a museum showcasing jewellery from 400BC that was discovered in the tomb of a Celtic princess at Bliesbruck-Reinheim, as well as other religious art from 13th to 19th centuries.

Historisches Museum Saar - The Saarbrücker Schloss is a well-designed Museum of Regional History that is in the form of a house and a basement.
