Officially the Republic of Guinea, the country of Guinea, formerly French Guinea, is a West African country sometimes also referred to as Guinea-Conakry. Covering an area of around 245,800 square kilometres or 95,000 square miles, the republic is home to approximately 10.1 million Guineans. Among the museum’s exhibits include European, non-European, mechanical, and traditional instruments of various types and sizes. When within the museum of the pieces that should not be missed include the Rottenburgh Alto recorder, in addition to instruments by Adolphe Sax along with the only existing copy of an instrument used by Ravel, the luthéal.
