Cheap flights from India

The Republic of India, located in South Asia, is a land of many labels. It is the 7th largest country in the world (by land area), the 2nd most populous country with 1.2 billion people (second only to China, with 1.3 billion) and the most populous democracy in the world.

Before leaving India, do drop by the stunning Mangalore for a visit. Known for its unspoilt beauty, Mangalore boasts some amazing pristine beaches, palm and coconut trees, rolling hills and is strategically located between the Arabian and Western Sea, resulting in beautiful coastal scenery as well. Named after local Hindu Goddess Mangaladevi, it is today a major port city for Karnataka and one of the cleanest cities in India.

Next, head over to Mumbai - or Bombay, as it is still frequently referred to - for the adrenaline rush of a bustling Indian metropolis. Considered one of the most modern cities in India, Mumbai is the capital of the Maharashtra state and boasts a faster-paced way of life as opposed to smaller, less modernised towns. It was also the city in which award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire was filmed and set in. Check out must-see sites like the Flora Fountain - an architectural masterpiece in the heart of the city featuring Flora, the Roman goddess of spring and beauty - and the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market (or Crawford Market), one of the oldest markets in Mumbai. But if you tire of the city, you can also visit the holy city of Rishikesh near Dehradun, the gateway to the Himalayas and birthplace of yoga. Rishikesh, surrounded by hills and sitting on the banks of the Ganges river, boasts a large number of temples, ashrams, shrines and yoga institutes, and is a must-go for those seeking spiritual peace amidst nature.

If you’d prefer a taste of Southeast Asia, a short-haul flight from India can get you to Hong Kong, one of Asia’s most happening little cities. Nightlife experiences can’t get much better –or cheaper –than at Lan Kwai Fong, a street in Hong Kong filled with flashy discotheques, lively bars and colorful taverns. In this densely populated little city you can also chow down on authentic dim sum that has been replicated across the world, but never done quite in the way it is at its source. Treat your sweet tooth to pineapple buns and sweet buttered rolls saturated with condensed milk, and finish off with popular beverage yuanyang.

For something a little further away, how about a long-haul flight to magical Ljubljana in Slovenia? This city is the gateway to some of the most heavenly natural sites in the world, including Lake Bled - a large, reflective jewel-green lake of both glacial and tectonic origins which looks like something straight out of a fairy tale - to the medieval Bled Castle as well as the picturesque white Church of the Assumption. Built in the 17th century complete with a mystical-looking tower and adorned with ancient Gothic frescos, the church would be a magnificent sight even if it were not sitting on an island right smack in the middle of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. The end result is a scene so stunningly gorgeous, you’ve got to see it to believe it.
