Sibu Airport is a public commercial airport located in the inland town of Sibu in the Malaysian state of Sarawak. The airport serves the towns of Bintangor, Sarikei, Kapit and Sibu. It is the third busiest airport in the state welcoming over 1.4 million passengers annually.

The Sibu Airport is a single terminal airport operating domestic flights within Malaysia. Currently, only two airlines operate flights from this airport – full-service scheduled airline Malaysia Airlines and low-cost airline AirAsia.

Sibu Airport is located approximately 24 kilometres from the city centre of Sibu. A taxi ride from the airport to the city centre would take about 23 minutes of travel time and cost around MYR35-45. There are currently no other alternatives for public transport. There are no bus services connecting Sibu Airport to the city centre.

The Sibu Airport is a fully air-conditioned airport with all the essential facilities and services required by travellers. There are retail shops and stores available for some last-minute shopping as well as a good selection of dining options for full meals or quick snacks. Internet WiFi access is currently not available.

Another good activity to do in Kuching is to experience a traditional Bidayuh longhouse communal life where one can try out local dishes and do various activities such as bamboo rafting or hiking through the jungle in Kuching.

Sibu Airport currently has seven direct flights from Sibu to Kuching daily operated by Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia. Malaysia Airlines also offers connecting flights to Kuching via Miri.

Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu is the capital of the state of Sabah which is located on Borneo island. The city is a popular tourist destination and home base for tropical islands and rainforests located nearby. It is also close to the famous Mount Kinabalu. Many tourists hike Mount Kinabalu, but if that doesn't tickle your fancy, there are many water activities offered in the city from scuba diving and snorkelling to white water rafting and sea kayaking. For a more leisurely activity, opt for a wetland river cruise or hire a boat for a day of sailing or yachting.
