All throughout the year, some of the fairs and feasts to attend within the city of Medellin include La Candelaria Bullfighting Fair in January to February, Holy Week celebration in March or April, Annual Tango Festival in June, Colombiamoda and National Handicrafts Fair in July, Flower Fair in August, Trova Festival in September, along with Christmas Lights and Parade of Myths and Legends in December. Additionally, the Tangovía happens on the last Friday of every month, starting at seven in the evening ‘till midnight.
Other activities and places of interest are adventure sports, culture walks, hang gliding, rafting, rock climbing, shopping, and windsurfing. Places to get to are Zona Rosa, El Poblado, or Parque Lleras for an animated nightlife, to name a few.
How to get around within Medellin
When in Medellin, getting out and about can be done via the city’s metro, Metrocable, Metroplus, buses, and taxis.
To get around via metro, there are two routes that serve more or less 400,000 passengers, via Line A which runs through Aburrá Valley, northward and southward, with Line B serving eastward and westward.
The city also features Metrocable and Metroplus public transportation. Metrocable is an aerial cable car that serves the Colombian masses, and complements the city’s main metro system, while Metroplus is a transportation system to be integrated into the city’s main metro system, to make 21 stops, serving around 160,000 passengers, more or less, in one day.
Along with the metro systems, the city also relies on buses and taxis, each providing transportation through a public bus transportation system, and registered taxis that serve the entirety of Medellin.
