Where to go

Go on a hike to Maungapu, which at 124 m, is the highest point on Aitutaki. It's only a short 30-minute hike to the top, but the views are spectacular! The trailhead is marked by a sign on the road opposite Paradise Cove.

Muri Beach

Popular for its pristine waters, Muri Beach is known as one of the most picturesque beaches on the island. It is also sometimes called Muri Lagoon, and is located on the southeast coast of Rarotonga. Activities in the beach include snorkelling to see corals and various species of tropical fish. The nearby resorts and restaurants also provide food for those famished after a long day.

Titikaveka Beach

Another nice beach to visit, situated on the southwest coast of Rarotonga instead, is Titikaveka Beach. It is also one of the best places to swim and go snorkelling, filled with colourful fish in such clear waters that even swimmers can spot them above the surface. The beach is also a good place to go kayaking. Located nearby is the coral stone Cook Islands Christian Church, built in 1841.

Cook Islands Cultural Village

The Cook Islands Cultural Village allows visitors to really feel the traditional island life. It covers five acres of lush tropical gardens, and offers many relaxing activities like carving, dancing, fishing, cooking, and coconut husking to see or even try. Visitors can go on a tour package with a meal and dance show included.

There are only a handful of destinations from Cook Islands. Flights are relatively short to Papeete and Auckland.
