Kota Kinabalu Airport used to consist of 2 passenger terminals, but Terminal 2 has been out of operation since late 2015 and all flights are currently in operation only from Terminal 1 (as of July 2016). To get to Kota Kinabalu Airport, take the Airport Bus from the centrally-located Padang Merdeka in Kota Kinabalu - the bus ride will take about 25-40 minutes to reach the airport (depending on traffic conditions), at a fare of around RM 5 (USD 1.2). Otherwise, a taxi ride to the airport would cost around RM 30 (USD 7.4) and take about 20 minutes only.

Travellers are advised to check in at the airport 2 hours in advance for international flights and 1.5 hours in advance for domestic flights.
