Nepal Airlines Flights

Founded in 1958 as the Royal Nepal Airlines, the now called Nepal Airlines is the official flag carrier for the country of Nepal. The airline is headquartered in Kathmandu and has its primary hub at the Tribhuvan International Airport, also in Kathmandu. 


Nepal Airlines is the country's first carrier and began with just one Douglas DC-3 aircraft to now having a fleet size of 11 aircraft. The airline serves 25 domestic destinations in Nepal as well as to 8 international destinations including Thailand, India, Hong Kong, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. The airline also has a codeshare agreement with Druk Air. 


Nepal Airlines operates flights in Malaysia out of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The airline currently offers thrice-weekly flights out of Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu

Check in

Nepal Airlines requires passengers to check-in for flights at the airport. It is recommended that all passengers arrive at the airport at least two to three hours before the scheduled departure time to allow ample time to go through the check-in process as well as for customs, security and immigration checks.

Baggage Allowances and fees

Nepal Airlines offers complimentary baggage allowance on all flights. For Economy Class passengers, they are allowed to check-in up to 30 kilogrammes of luggage. For flights to Hong Kong, only 25 kilogrammes are allowed. For flights to Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, free baggage allowance will vary between 20 to 25 kilogrammes depending on the fare class booked. Meanwhile, Business Class passengers will have additional baggage allowance up to 40 kilogrammes in most sectors and 30 kilogrammes for flights to Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. For cabin or hand carried baggage, each passenger can bring one piece of luggage not exceeding 7 kilogrammes. The bag must also not exceed the maximum size dimensions of 20 inches x 15 inches x 10 inches. Additional items on top of this are allowed such as a small handbag and duty-free items.


Nepal Airlines offers two types of cabin classes – Economy Class and Business Class. Economy Class passengers will enjoy the flights with a cabin equipped with comfortable seats and spacious enough for a long journey. Business Class or Shangri-La Class passengers will be provided additional privileges and benefits. Passengers will enjoy priority check-in and boarding as well as personalised service onboard the flight. The Business Class cabin features a 16-seat configuration giving passengers space and privacy throughout the journey.

In-flight services

Nepal Airlines offers passengers complimentary dining services during the flights. Economy Class passengers will enjoy specially prepared meals crafted by chefs from 5-star hotels in Kathmandu. A selection of beverages is also available with the meals. For Business Class passengers, they will enjoy exclusive three-course meals, served on luxurious tableware and cutlery, prepared by the same local chefs. A wide selection of cocktails and beverages will be available to accompany the meals.
