Thai Smile Flights

Thai Smile is a subsidiary of Thai Airways and operates regional flights for the airline. It is headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand and has its primary hub at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. The airline’s focus city or operating hub is at the Chiang Mai International Airport.

Thai Smile was founded in 2011 and did not begin operations until a year later in 2012. The airline was established by Thai Airways and was envisioned to serve the gap in the market between low-cost budget airlines and full-service scheduled airlines. Since its launch, the airline has since expanded to a fleet size of 20 aircraft operating flights to over 25 destinations. In Malaysia, Thai Smile operates flights from the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Penang International Airport and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Why Fly Thai Smile

Ways to Check-in

Thai Smile provides passengers with several options to check-in for flights. Passengers can continue to check-in at the airport if they prefer. However, the airline recommends that passengers check-in online or through their mobile application to avoid long queues and waiting time at the airport. Passengers with no checked baggage can also check-in at the Smile Service Center located at the Airport Rail Link of Phayathai Station.

Online and mobile check-in should be completed at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. If checking in at the airport, check-in counters open 3 hours up to 60 minutes before departure for regional flights and 2 hours up to 45 minutes for domestic flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Thai Smile’s baggage allowance for Economy or Smile Class passengers is 20 kilogrammes (44 pounds) while passengers on Business or Smile Plus Class are allowed up to 30 kilogrammes (66 pounds). Those travelling with infants are allowed an additional 10 kilogrammes (22 pounds).

Passengers are allowed to purchase additional baggage allowance should they need to do so. Additional baggage allowance is calculated per kilogramme from 5 up to 30 kilogrammes in increments of 5 kilogrammes. Each passenger can only purchase a maximum of 30 kilogrammes for each destination.

Thai Smile currently offers two types of cabin classes – Economy or Smile Class and Business or Smile Plus Class.
