Ireland’s low-cost airline, Ryanair, is headquartered in Dublin and has main operational hubs located at the Dublin Airport and London Stansted Airport. Ryanair was founded in 1984 and is known to be the largest airline in Europe based on recorded, scheduled passengers. The airline is also known as the busiest international airline based on passenger numbers. Ryanair has a fleet size of over 360 aircraft that are comprised of mostly Boeing 737-800 planes. The airline operates flights to various destinations across 32 countries all over Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.  

 

Ryanair flights operate from smaller or secondary airports with the exception in some locations. These secondary airports are usually found on the outskirts of the main cities and was chosen specifically to keep costs low. Some exceptions include a few selected major airports such as Edinburgh, London-Gatwick, and Rome-Fiumicino airports.

How to Check In

Ryanair offers a quick and easy way to check-in online for flights. Online registration is available from 4 days to 2 hours before departure time. For those passengers who purchased allocated seats, online check-in is available from 30 days to 2 hours before departure. To check in online, visit Ryanair's official website and follow the simple steps provided. Remember to keep your email address or credit card details handy; you will need to provide this information to retrieve your booking. After submitting your travel document information and seat selections, download or print your boarding card from the comfort and convenience of your home. For travellers who will be checking in baggage, it is advised that you arrive at the airport early. Bag Drop desks are open 2 hours up to 40 minutes before the scheduled flight departure.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Ryanair does not offer free baggage allowance. All passengers who need to check in luggage would need to purchase checked baggage allowance. This can be done during the booking process or after through the airline’s website. Each passenger can buy up to 3 checked bags of 15 or 20 kilos each. It is recommended to purchase baggage allowance before arriving at the airport because higher baggage fees may apply when purchased at the airport counter or through the Ryanair call centre. You can pre-purchase baggage allowance up to 2 hours before departure time.

Seating

Ryanair flights operate on randomly assigned seating. However, passengers can purchase a pre-selected seat during the booking process or when checking in online. Standard seats from rows 6 to 15 and rows 18 to 33 are charged RM 37.80 (USD 8.50) per flight. Priority seats from rows 2 (A, B & C) to 5 are charged RM37.85 (USD 8.50) per flight. Priority with Extra Legroom Seats from rows 1, 2 (D, E & F) and 16 to 17 are charged RM 71 (USD 15.96) per flight.

Inflight services

Ryanair also does not provide complimentary meal service. The airline offers a wide variety of beverages and snacks available for purchase. Pre-purchased meals are only available on flights departing Dublin Airport before 7 in the morning. Bringing your food onboard the flight is also allowed except for hot drinks. Consuming own alcohol onboard is also not allowed.
