Sichuan Airlines Flights

Sichuan Airlines is a regional airline in China that operate mostly scheduled domestic flights. The airline is headquartered in Chengdu of Sichuan Province in China. It has its primary hub at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Sichuan Airlines was founded in 1986 but did not officially start its operations until 1988 with flights from Chengdu to Wenzhou. It has since expanded to an airline with a fleet size of over 120 aircraft operating flights to more than 65 destinations. Sichuan Airlines flies mostly within East Asia, but it also offers flights to international destinations such as Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Vancouver in Canada, Los Angeles in the United States, Prague in the Czech Republic and Singapore.

Sichuan Airlines extends its flight network thanks to its subsidiary, Chengdu Airlines as well as with the help of its codeshare agreements with China Eastern Airlines, China Express Airlines and China Southern Airlines.

Ways to Check-in

Sichuan Airlines provides passengers with a few options to check-in for flights. Online check-in is currently available for domestic flights from two o’clock in the afternoon to two hours before the scheduled flight departure.

Passengers can still opt to check-in direct at the airport. This service is especially recommended for international passengers as the airline's English-version website is not as comprehensive as the local language version. The airport check-in counters open 3 hours up to 40 minutes before the departure time. Self-service kiosks are also available at selected airports.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Sichuan Airlines offers complimentary baggage allowance on flights. Economy Class passengers are allowed to check-in one piece of luggage up to 23 kilogrammes. For Business Class and Economy Class passengers flying to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and the Americas, passengers are allowed up to 2 pieces of luggage up to 23 kilogrammes each. Lastly, First Class passengers are allowed to check-in up to 3 pieces of luggage up to 23 kilogrammes each. Each piece of luggage should not exceed the total dimension of 115 centimetres.

For cabin or hand carried baggage, Economy and Business Class passengers are allowed one carry-on bag not exceeding 5 kilogrammes while First Class passengers can hand carry one luggage bag and one additional personal item not exceeding a combined weight of 10 kilogrammes. All hand carried items must fit in overhead compartments or under the seats.


Sichuan Airlines currently offers three types of cabin classes – Economy, Business and First Class. Availability of cabins will depend on the flight route and assigned aircraft for the journey.

In-flight Services

Sichuan Airlines provides complimentary onboard dining. This service is available for flights that have a flight journey of more than two hours and occur during mealtimes. Hot meals are offered as well as a selection of beverages. Special meals can be pre-booked during the booking process.

The airline also offers in-flight entertainment. However, most of the programmes shown will be in the local language, Chinese. Newspapers and magazine publications will also be available.
